Welcome! My name is Mrs. Alsworth, and I am a Reading Interventionist here at APW Elementary School. When I was a student I had many interests and loved learning new things. Then, as a mom watching my children grow and learn, I realized I had a love for the learning process. This inspired me to return to college as an adult to earn my Master’s Degree in Literacy from SUNY Oswego.
In 2005 I began teaching at Parish Elementary, I then taught at Altmar Elementary, and now APW Elementary. Over the years I have had opportunities to teach different grade levels and content areas including 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, Library, and Reading.
I believe children learn best when they feel safe and cared for. I hope to provide an environment where students are risk takers and know that it is ok to make mistakes, as those are opportunities for learning. My goal is to help students see that they can be leaders. Independent, inquisitive thinkers who persevere when faced with something difficult.
